eXPERIENCE

Liz’s passion for mediating and helping people can be traced back to her pre-professional days. Whether it was being part of her high school peer support group or leading a team to raise the operating income for a cancer charity, she has always had a natural instinct to be a problem solver and helper. Why? She has a natural curiosity in people and gets excited about helping them to be their best selves.

Liz was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved around a lot when she was young while her Dad was expanding his career. This is where Liz learned to be easily adaptable to new situations. After graduating high school in Red Deer, Alberta, Liz moved to Calgary to attend business school at the University of Calgary. Her inquiring nature led her back to school in 2014 to get her MBA at the University of Calgary. Always having a passion for conflict resolution led Liz to Mount Royal University in 2018 to make a career change to mediation.

Being a mediator appeals to Liz’s natural instincts of problem solving and helping others. This is readily apparent in the careers Liz had in the past too. In client development, Liz’s curiosity and glass half-full mentality helped her to identify client interests and needs. As an owner of a specialty active wear company, Liz’s inquisitive nature and attention to clients helped them to be their best selves and increase their self-esteem.

Outside mediation, Liz has two active teenage children that are involved in the Calgary Stampede Showband and Luge. She loves volunteering for Community Mediation Calgary Society (CMCS), Peer Mediation and Skills Training (PMAST), the Calgary Stampede, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Yoga, spin, hiking, paddle boarding, golf, music, and photography are at the top of her list of list of activities. In fact, this year Liz is making trying new things a priority. So farm she has learned to belly dance and went on every rollercoaster at Disneyland.
